The Polestar 0 project is unique in its kind, with the moonshot goal of producing a completely climate-neutral car by 2030. Autoliv is a proud partner in the project and will contribute to the creation of a truly groundbreaking car. On September 14, Handan Dogramaci, Project Manager for Polestar 0 at Autoliv, joined a press conference in Stockholm where 12 new collaborative partners were announced.
In February 2022, Autoliv was declared a Polestar 0 partner among the first round of collaborators.
Now 12 new partners have joined the project to help make a climate-neutral car a reality. The new partner companies work in areas such as plastics, composites, chemicals, and metals.
The Polestar 0 project is about looking beyond our current frames of reference and the obstacles we face in the current world. The project will be characterized by innovative and circular design, including circular batteries, recycled materials, and renewable energy across the supply chain.
“At Autoliv, we see collaboration as an important accelerator for innovation. Together with Polestar, we intend to research and develop climate neutral solutions within automotive safety, such as pyrotechnics, textiles, and new generations of materials for airbags and seatbelts”, says Handan Dogramaci, Project Manager for the Polestar 0 project at Autoliv.
In June 2021, we announced our ambitious climate targets, placing us among the frontrunners in the wider group of automotive suppliers. As the first automotive safety components supplier, Autoliv is to become carbon neutral in our own operations by 2030. Furthermore, we aim for net-zero emissions across our supply chain by 2040.
The automotive industry is undergoing significant structural changes, not least in electrification of the powertrain. Autoliv is already actively supporting this development through research and development of products, specifically for electric vehicles. With our climate targets, we strengthen our support to our customers in reducing supply chain emissions.
“To reach our ambitious climate targets, we need to collaborate across the value chain. We are well-positioned to continue to support our partners and customers, such as Polestar, in achieving their sustainability goals”, concludes Handan Dogramaci.
Polestar invites companies, researchers, and investors that operate in the automotive field to join the Polestar 0 project and the development towards a more sustainable future.
The first Polestar 0 car is planned to hit the road in 2030.
